Já foi dito que a caricatura é o verdadeiro retrato oficial dos homens públicos . 
A charge, portanto, seria o instantâneo, aquela imagem que registra, através do humor, o momento único de um acontecimento na história sócio - política de um povo.
Desde 08 de outubro de 1977, tenho tido o privilégio de realizar diariamente um desses instantâneos, registrando as mudanças resultantes da luta do povo e dos seus representantes por uma sociedade mais livre e mais justa, uma luta onde as vezes vencemos e onde outras vezes apenas voltamos a lutar.
Para mim, poder apresentar, neste Retrato Oficial, a face do Brasil que vivemos neste últimos 25 anos através de uma seleção das charges que considero mais representativas desse período, é mais um privilégio e uma responsabilidade, decorrentes da arte e do ofício que escolhi.
Espero ter sido um bom fotógrafo - ou pelo menos um bom retratista de instantâneos - e que ao mostrar estes desenhos possa contribuir para que compreendamos melhor a nossa História e possamos cada vez mais olhar com bom humor tanto para o nosso passado quanto para o nosso futuro.

Someone once said that the true official portrait of a public person was the caricature.
The Editorial Cartoon, then, would be the instantaneous photograph, the image that records, through humor, the unique moment of something that happens in the sociopolitical story of a country.
Since October 8th, 1977, I´ve had the privilege of doing  one of those daily instantaneous pictures, registering the changes that come out from the struggle of the people and it´s representatives towards a more free and just society, a fight where sometimes we win and where in other times we just go back to fighting again.
To me, to be able to present in this Official Portrait the face of the country on which we lived in these last 25 years, through a selection of the most representative Editorial Cartoons I´ve made trhoughout this period, is one more privilege and also a responsibility that comes from the the art and trade I´ve chosen for my life.
I hope that I have been a good photographer - or, at least, a good instantaneous recorder - and that by showing these drawings I can contribute to a better understanding of our History and that we also may look with good humor towards our past and our future.
