Form
comes from function and when the function of a
line is to express the particular vision of an
artist upon reality, the form it assumes is as
peculiar as is unique the perspective point that
the author has in relation to his creation.
When
three artists of so different expressions as Cláudio
Oliveira, Lourenço Mutarelli and Samuel Casal
meet, the first impression is that their work
diverge in practically all the ways.
But
as a matter of fact all three are artists who go
way beyond the apparent limits of their
journalistic and literary spaces to register their
personal impression of the moment they live.
There
are three forms of of drawing with the same
function, the one that causes uneasiness and
reflection. And allows us to navigate throughout
reality with eyes that can see from the
traditional pen and ink until the modern digital
tablet.
